It has been a little over 20 years since Jaleel White has starred in his breakout role as Steve Urkel. However, he has reprised this role for an episode of Boomerang’s “Scooby-Doo And Guess Who?”
Jaleel took to social media to give fans the first look of Steve Urkel on the show and said, “Walked in that booth after 20 years and voiced him like it was nuthin #SteveUrkel #UrkelBot.”
He continued, “Hanna Barbera once gifted me an animation cell I have til this day. To be ON screen with Scoob And Shaggy solving a mystery is #Bucketlist stuff.”
According to Complex, other well-known faces to appear on the series include, Wanda Sykes, Chris Paul, Kenan Thompson, and many others.
For those familiar with Jaleel’s Steve Urkel character originated for the sitcom “Family Matters,” which was on air for a total of 9 seasons. The show first aired back in 1989 and ended in 1998. Steve was the neighbor to the Winslow family, and viewers had the chance to see Urkel’s relationship develop with the family throughout the years.
Back in 2017, the cast of the show reunited for an issue of Entertainment Weekly, and during their interview, Jo Marie Payton talked about how easy it would be for them to get back into the order of things if a reboot were to happen.
She said, “Jaleel and I were talking just a little while ago and he said, ‘You know, we can do this.’ And I said, ‘If they dropped a script at our feet when we walked out of here, we would come back in tomorrow, and the next day we’d have a show shot.”
“Scooby-Do And Guess Who” premieres on the Boomerang on June 27th.
