When Jaylan Banks and Falynn Pina announced their split in February, things seemed amicable in their joint statement. But nearly six months later, Banks is claiming Pina “groomed” him, then left him for another man.
The “MTV Couples Retreat” star opened up about his former relationship in a recent “Relationships Matter” podcast episode. Jaylan Banks mentioned grooming when the host asked him how their romance started.
“I was groomed,” Banks said. “She made it seem as if he was doing her wrong, and then come to find out I’m on the other side now so that’s narccissist…She groomed me…would tell me he’s doing this to me and I felt sad for her and being a friend. That’s what narcissist do, they groom you. Make the other person look bad so when you do something you won’t feel bad about it because you feel as if they were treating that person wrong.”

Banks said during a trip to Cancun, Mexico, a night of drinking resulted in “one thing [leading] to another.” Jaylan added that he knew “right there and then” that he was in love with Falynn and “it was too late to turn back.”
Falynn’s ex-husband Simon Guobadia repeatedly accused her of cheating with Banks before their relationship was public. Falynn has previously denied that she cheated on Guobadia. Simultaneously, the entrepreneur also faced backlash for entering a relationship and getting engaged to Pina’s former co-star Porsha Williams–who is now his wife.
Jaylan Banks Says He’s “Scared” To Let His Daughter Be Raised With Falynn’s “Trauma”
When asked what happened in the relationship, Banks referred to a phrase online users spewed at him throughout their romance. He said he “lost her how [he] got her.”
“I lost myself within my relationship with her, and now I’m left alone to find myself again–when I helped her find herself in her relationship when she was lost. So now that I’m lost I’m no longer good for her anymore.”
Jaylan Banks later alleged that by the time they split, Pina already had someone else in the picture.
“Come to find out [Falynn’s] nine-year-old was already calling him dad and I was still in love with her,” Banks said. “Still to this day, I still have love for her to some point. So I was hurt. Like, I’m the type of person I would’ve never done that to you. I would’ve never abandoned you and left you and just moved on with life. And she had so much trauma in her life, I’m scared to let my daughter be raised like that,” Banks shared.
Banks and Pina welcomed their first child, a daughter named Emma Sang Pina, in November 2021. In August of that year, Banks gushed about being “as ready as [he] can ever be” in their joint pregnancy announcement video.
He added that he was also taking on the role of a “father figure” to Falynn’s three sons from a previous relationship. In his words, he was “giving back to the boys what [he] never received.”
In January of this year, the former couple announced they suffered a miscarriage.
As mentioned, Falynn and Banks announced their split in a statement shared on social media. It claimed their “bond as friends and family will never be broken.”
This past summer, the former couple’s appearance on “MTV Couples Retreat” aired. Jaylan’s latest tweet, posted on June 30, talks about women traumatizing kids.
Falynn Pina has not publicly reacted to his claims.
