Sorry Jets fans! Geno Smith got into a “very childish”, as described by Coach Todd Bowles, locker room scuffle the other day with linebacker IK Enemkpali! The fight left Smith with two fractures in his jaw and Enemkpali was immediately released from the team.
The Jets’ coach had a few words to say about the situation. “It’s something we don’t tolerate, something we can’t stand,” Bowles said. “You don’t walk up to a man and punch him in the face.”
When asked what the fight was about, he explained, “It was something very childish, something sixth-graders could’ve talked about,” Bowles said. “It had no reason to happen. If they want to tell you what happened, they can tell you what happened. I told them I wouldn’t say anything about it.” Look at Coach Bowles thuggin’ it out! He ain’t spillin’ no kind of tea!
Since Geno Smith will be going into surgery, Ryan Fitzpatrick will start the team’s season off as quarterback, but Bowles said that they may add another quarterback too! Will it be No. 2 pick Bryce Petty? According to ESPN, the Jets have reportedly reached out to Rex Grossman, formerly of the Washington Redskins, so I guess we’ll see in a month!
We wish you a speedy recovery, Geno Smith!
Roommates, football season starts in September! Rep your team in the comments!
