John Amos’ Daughter Shannon Shares How She Found Out About His Death

John Amos‘ daughterShannonhas said that she learned about the death of her father along with the rest of the world. She took to social media with a short message about her dad’s passing.

Shannon Amos Raises Questions About Her Dad’s Death

As previously reported, John’s son, Kelly Christopher, confirmed in a press statement that their dad passed away on August 21. He did not, however, explain the time-lapse between the passing and the public announcement of it. Neither did Shannon in her social media post, but she sure pointed it out.

“I am without words…Our family has received the heartbreaking news that my Dad, John Allen Amos Jr., transitioned on August 21st. We are devastated and left with many questions about how this happened 45 days ago, learning about it though the media like so many of you,” she wrote.

Furthermore, John Amos’ daughter asserted that a time that should be about celebrating John’s “life” is filled with “uncertainties surrounding his passing.” “Still there is some semblance of peace in knowing my father is finally free,” the daughter added. Swipe below to see her full statement.

Shannon Amos questioning her dad’s passing comes more than a year after she publicly claimed he was being subjected to elder abuse and fighting for his life. She had also created a GoFundMe to allegedly aid his situation, which she alleged also included financial exploitation. John later denied her allegations in a statement to TMZ.

At the time, his rep, Belinda Foster, also told the outlet that John was hospitalized due to fluid build-up in his stomach. However, Foster assured the outlet that the ‘Good Times’ actor was not in life-threatening danger.

Details About John Amos’ Death

As mentioned, John Amos’ son confirmed his death, and so did his rep, Belinda. “He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold and he was loved the world over. Many fans consider him their TV father. He lived a good life,” Christopher said.

 

A follow-up report by TMZ states that the actor passed away from heart failure. He reportedly passed at 5:18 p.m. at a hospital in Inglewood in Los Angeles County. No other health conditions are listed on his death certificate, per TMZ. Furthermore, the family elected to cremate the 84-year-old nine days after he died on August 30. His son is listed as the person who informed the county of his death.John Amos was 84.
