Jordan Peele Is Not Here For ‘Us’ Inspired Costumes: “Don’t Send Me Pictures. I’m Good.”

Spooky season is about to reach it’s peak, as Halloween is just around the corner. We know y’all want to pull out all the stops for your costumes, but theres one particular set that Jordan Peele is not here for!

Jordan’s box office hit ‘Us’ put us all in the mood for horror and terror back in March, and as anticipated, has climbed to the top of the Halloween costume list. Although Jordan is proud of his masterpiece, he is not here to relive the disturbing nature that comes along with the tethered.

In an interview with Variety, Jordan says a lot of creepy things have been happening to him since ‘Us’, but the worst of all has been receiving emails of people dressed as the tethered from the film.

“Now, in Halloween season, I’ve started receiving a lot of people in Tethered costumes, which, it doesn’t make me comfortable,” he says. “I just feel like you shouldn’t go into that mindset.”

Most recently, the cast of ‘Black-ish’ used the tethered as the inspiration behind one of their Halloween episodes. Tracee-Ellis Ross, Anthony Anderson and the rest of the gang went full on creep mode, posing for Instagram photos with their gold scissors.

“You know, I like the fact that the movie is happening, it’s a phenomenon, it’s resonating, it’s iconic,” Jordan continues. “But, I don’t know, there’s something about…it’s like they’re impersonating the stalkers and sending me stuff.”

Lupita Nyong’o, who played the mother in the film, chimed in during the interview, letting it be known that life hasn’t been the same since the film.

“I would receive text messages and screenshots of 11:11, and I would send them to Jordan,” she said. “It was just so creepy.”

Despite his feelings, Jordan Peele says he is not discouraging anyone from paying homage to his film, he only asks that you do not send him photos.

“Do not send me photos dressed as creepy characters. I’m good.”
