‘Queen & Slim’ star Jodie Turner-Smith and ‘Dawson’s Creek’ alum Joshua Jackson tied the knot in December 2019 and have since welcomed a baby girl together! While the two have been pretty open about their relationship, Joshua recently opened up about how their union came to be.
Joshua appeared on ‘The Tonight Show’ and revealed he was positive he and Jodie were meant to be the moment she asked for his hand in marriage. Yes, you read that right. Joshua said Jodie proposed to him while they were spending New Year’s Eve in Nicaragua.
“She asked me, yeah, on New Year’s Eve,” Joshua said. “We were in Nicaragua. It was very beautiful. Incredibly romantic. We were walking down the beach, and she asked me to marry her. There was like a preamble. There was a lead-up to it. I did not know, but she was quite adamant, and she was right. This is the best choice I ever made.”

Earlier this year, Jodie told PEOPLE she and Joshua are “like mirrors for each other,” and love and support one another in various ways.
“I think it’s really beautiful to be with someone who is so supportive and so loving. We’re so similar in so many ways. We’re like mirrors for each other. And I just really love that human being. We high-five each other all the time about how great we chose.”
Jodie recently penned a heartfelt message to her hubby, in which she expressed just how great of a father and husband he has been to her and their little one.
“I thank god every day that you hold the both of us in your strong, capable hands. You are loved. You are adored. You are the best father and husband and friend. Thank you for waiting for us,” Jodie wrote.
Joshua went on to tell Jimmy Fallon that he loves his life as a husband and father and feels he’s doing a “pretty excellent” job in both roles.
