The actor claimed they yelled racist and homophobic slurs at him before tying a noose around his neck. After an investigation was complete, it was discovered Smollett orchestrated the entire event himself.
Law officials revealed he paid two brothers he met while working on the set of ‘Empire’ to stage the act. He instructed the men to yell he was in, “MAGA Country,” referencing former president Donald Trump’s campaign slogan, PBS reports.
