The actor took to social media to share the big news in a heartfelt post. He let the world know hes stepping into this next chapter with his now-fianc, Jabari Redd.
On Friday, June 20, Jussie Smollett dropped some big news on fans, confirming his engagement to his partner, Jabari Redd. The ‘Empire’ star made the announcement by sharing several sweet photos from his proposal on Instagram. Keeping things low-key, the heartfelt moment shows Jussie down on one knee, opening a box on a sidewalk outside a restaurant. Jabari appears right in front of him in complete shock and later embraces Jussie with a hug.Jussie captioned the heartwarming moment writing, “Ill be spending my birthday with my Fianc He said YES. ”
Jussie Smollett and Jabari Redd have kept their relationship relatively private. However, during his appearance on the ‘Way Up With Angela Yee’ radio show in November 2024, he revealed that he was cuffed up, telling Angela that he and Jabari had been dating for about a year. “I…am unavailable[to date] and deeply in love,” Jussie told Angela Yee.
The Smollett family has always seemed tight-knit and supportive, and that love was on full display this week. In a heartfelt Instagram Story post, Jurnee Smollett showed major love to her brother, celebrating his birthday and engagement.
“Happy birthday to my heart!!! My big brother this [engagement] picture makes me so happy!!! Congratulations,” Jurnee wrote.
Jurnee also commented under Jussie’s engagement post saying, “Screaming with tears of joy! My whole heart loves both of you. Welcome to the family ”
While their other sister, Jazz, commented, “Yaaaass!!! Welcome to the family Jabari!!! Love yall!! Sooooo happy for you both! ”
