#Roommates, Kanye West has a lot on his plate these days, specifically his highly controversial presidential run—but it he has also just been acknowledged for his latest album. The 51st annual Dove Award nominations were recently announced and Kanye scored multiple nominations for his chart-topping gospel album “Jesus Is King.”

@Variety reports, the Gospel Music Association announced the nominations for the 2020 Dove Awards earlier today and first-time nominee Kanye West earned three nominations for his highly successful hit gospel album “Jesus Is King.” The album debuted at the top of the gospel charts back in November and remained there for several weeks.

Marking Kanye’s first musical entry into the gospel music arena, “Jesus Is King,” is nominated for one of the Dove Award’s top prizes, Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year. It also garnered nominations for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year, with Kanye picking up a nomination as one of its producers. Finally, the third nomination is for the single “Follow God” for Rap/Hip Hop Recorded Song of the Year. Kirk Franklin and Jonathan McReynolds also received four nominations apiece.

Nominations were announced on various of SirusXM/Pandora’s faith-based radio stations, which also announced that the awards show will air October 30th on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Due to COVID-19, instead of the usual live awards broadcast, “the show will be a variety of unique pre-recorded performances and acceptance speeches,” with more information in the coming weeks.
