Ozzy Osbourne Criticizes Kanye West For Sampling His Song

Ozzy Osbourne Blasts Kanye West For Allegedly Sampling His Song Without Permission

Ozzy Osbourne is not happy after finding out Kanye West allegedly sampled one of his songs without permission.

The 75-year-old took to Instagram on Friday (February 9) to address the situation. And he made it known he wanted no association with the rapper.

Ozzy Osbourne Calls Out Kanye West For Sampling His Music

On Thursday (February 8), Ye hosted a listening party for his new album with Ty Dolla Sign, titled ‘Vultures.’

The event was held at the United Center in Chicago, per Billboard, where West went on to play a portion of Black Sabbath’s “Wild Hogs” live performance.

The sample was used for Ye’s new single, ‘Talking / Once Again.’

Ye’s use of the track seemingly outraged the lead singer of the rock band. Ozzy revealed that he had denied Ye’s initial request.

Despite the denial, however, West reportedly went ahead and used the sample during his album listening party.

In the now-deleted post, Osbourne emphatically stated, “@KAYNEWEST ASKED PERMISSION TO SAMPLE A [SECTION] OF A 1983 LIVE PERFORMANCE OF ‘WAR PIG’ FROM THE US FESTIVAL WITHOUT VOCALS”.

He further elaborated, “REFUSED PERMISSION BECAUSE HE IS AN ANTISEMITE AND HAS CAUSED UNTOLD HEARTACHE TO MANY.” The post concluded with the  statement, “I WANT NO ASSOCIATION WITH THIS MAN!”

Osbourne appeared outraged due to West’s previous remarks about the Jewish community.

While Osbourne himself is a Christian, many of his family members, including his wife Sharon Osbourne, are of Jewish descent, per the Jewish Chronicle.

And it’s pretty apparent that while West had apologized for his past remarks in recent months, some people aren’t that quick to forgive.

In October 2022, West reportedly shared a screenshot of a text exchange on Instagram that contained an alleged plan to go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE”. These antisemitic comments led to a widespread backlash against him.

Instagram consequently restricted his account and deleted the offensive posts. Twitter followed suit by removing some of his posts due to violating the platform’s policies.

West’s controversial fashion choices at the time, such as the “White Lives Matter” shirts that he debuted at Paris Fashion Week, further fueled the fire.

Multiple companies, including big names like Adidas, GAP, Balenciaga, and fashion magazine Vogue, severed their ties with West.

Even CAA announced that they had dropped the ‘Stronger’ rapper as one of their clients.

Kanye West Seemingly Tried To Make Things Right By Issuing An Apology

The father of four attempted to mend fences by issuing a public apology in December before releasing his new album.

In a statement translated from Hebrew, he expressed his regret for any pain caused and committed to learning from the experience.

He apologized just one month after he dropped the title track of Vultures.

In the song, he seems to reference the fallout between him and the Jewish community as he raps, “How I’m antisemitic? I just f***ed a Jewish b***h.”
