Kanye West & The Gap Form A New Partnership

Kanye West & The Gap Form A New Partnership

It looks like Kanye West has reached another level in the fashion game when it comes to his Yeezy brand. On Friday, he shared a tweet to announce that his brand and the popular clothing company Gap have a new partnership.

According to the New York Times, Kanye and the Gap have partnered for a 10 year deal for the “Yeezy Gap,” apparel line. The retailer says that the clothing line will make its introduction during the first half of 2021.

Someone familiar with the negotiations reportedly said that they agreed upon the deal, which starts this month, with the option to renew after five years. The Yeezy design studio, under Kanye’s direction, plans to create a “modern, elevated basics for men, women, and kids at accessible price points.” Kanye will also have an input on how the clothing will be displayed inside of the Gap stores as well as online.

The partnership with Yeezy and the Gap comes when the company, which also owns Old Navy and Banana Republic. started to see a decline in sales. The brand, which also has been affected due to the coronavirus, has reportedly struggled within the past few years.

For those who may not know, as a teenager, Kanye West worked at the Gap, and back in 2015, during an interview, he talked about his interest in working with the brand and becoming “the Steve Jobs of the Gap.”

Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian talked about his partnership and said, “If anyone knows Kanye they know how much the Gap and Yeezy means to him so this partnership is his dream come true! I am so proud of him. You guys are going to love what they have in store for everyone! From working at the Gap to this partnership is so inspiring #WestDayEver.”
