Last night during his stop in Oakland, Kanye West made an announcement mid performance that has everyone talking.
According to Complex, Yeezy threatened not to show up to the Grammys if Frank Ocean’s latest album, “Blonde,” is not nominated.
If you all can remember earlier this week, news broke that Frank Ocean’s album was ineligible to be nominated because it was not submitted for consideration. At first many thought his team may have missed the deadline.
But it was revealed that they were aware of the deadline, but made the decision not to submit.
Now although Kanye may have missed that announcement, his heart was definitely in the right place.
He said, “The album I listen to the most this year is Frank Ocean’s album. I’ll tell you this right now: If his album’s not nominated in no categories, I’m not showing up to the Grammys.”
As a solution to it all he mentioned an incident that happened with Lady Gaga where they Grammys secretly altered their rules so she can be nominated to perform at the show back in 2009.
Therefore, Kanye is suggesting that the Grammy’s switch some things around so that “Blonde” can be nominated.
