In the early 2000s, Kevin and Dreka were just teens in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, when their paths crossed, and sparks flew. According to a 2016 interview with The Source, Dreka shared theyd been together for at least 16 years by then, meaning they likely started dating around 2000 when they were about 14 or 15. Kevin, an aspiring rapper at the time, and Dreka built a bond that went beyond romance. They became business partners, too. Our good sis helped launch Kevins Bread Winners Association (BWA) label in 2010. She also appeared in his music videos and managed his career while he continued to rise to fame.
After over a decade of holding it down, Kevin and Dreka tied the knot on October 17, 2015, in a lavish ceremony that some had deemed long overdue. The couple welcomed two kids: daughter Islah, born in 2012, and son Khaza, born in 2014. Both parents decided to keep their kids out of the spotlight, focusing on family while juggling Kevins music career and Drekas wellness brand.
When he released a freestyle over Kodak Black’s ‘Super General’ song in 2022, Kevin seemingly hinted there was trouble in paradise. Fans interpreted some of his lyrics as him seemingly confirming he was a single man, per Hip Hop DX. But his lyrics went deeper than just addressing his relationship status, as Kevin also rapped about lying to the world and allegedly trying to protect Dreka’s image.
“Poured my heart out, I may fly again, you hurt me, I’m out the picture. Stressin’ ’bout me during yo’ pregnancy, your baby now resemble me. Went home to sleep, deep down, there’s tension when you knowin’ that somethin’ missin’. Suck it up, put all my energy back in Islah and lil’ Killa. Took the blame in interviews and made it look like I was trippin’. Made the “Dreka” song, lied to the world while tryna protect her image. Tell me you love me, I say it back, back in my mind, I’m indifferent.”
On Wednesday, July 30, Dreka reportedly filed for divorce from Kevin, citing irreconcilable differences. The filing noted theyd been separated since July 10, with Dreka seeking joint legal and physical custody of Islah and Khaza, plus spousal support. This reported divorce filing, via TMZ, comes weeks after Kevins 52-day marriage” to Brittany ended. Kevin and Brittany claimed they had tied the knot in early April, before splitting by May 28. Brittany confirmed the breakup in a June 7 REAL 92.3 LA interview at a pre-BET Awards event. She mentioned Islams 90-day waiting period for reconciliation or pregnancy checks, saying she was focusing on herself moving forward.
Dreka stayed mum during Kevins fling while he was still married to her, focusing on posting about her wellness brand and skincare instead of addressing private matters. But fans speculate Kevins public romance with Brittany, complete with cozy Lakers game outings and flirty IG Lives may have pushed Dreka to her limit. Of course, this comes months after another woman named Persia P claimed to be Kevins girlfriend! She further alleged that the rapper misrepresented his marital status when they allegedly started seeing one another.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, she wrote:
“This man told me hes legally separated, so thats that. I simply came onto this platform to express how I feel cause I have every right to feel the way that I do and to women that are going through the same thing. Its okay to stand up for yourself. Dealing with men that manipulate, gaslight, lie, all of that. Im just sick of it all. Im sick of this man leading me on this whole time.
Kevins history of rumored flings and the lyrics of ‘Super General’ didnt help. The rapper has yet to publicly respond to Dreka’s divorce filing.
