Kevin Gates Shuts Down Questions About His “Estranged Wife”
At the BET Awards, Kevin Gates stopped to chat with The Shade Room on the red carpet. When TSR mentioned that Brittany Renner had walked by alone, and asked why. The rapper then asked for clarity before pulling a serious expression.
“Oh, who I love I don’t discuss,” he replied. “But I wish her the best.”
When TSR asked if he and Renner were no longer together, he repeated, “Who I love I don’t discuss, but God bless her. I wish her the best.” See the moment below.
What Brittany Revealed About Her 52-Day Marriage
Gates’ energy on the BET Awards red carpet isn’t too shocking. He’s not known to put his negative relationship business on the front street. In fact, it was Brittany Renner who let the public into the logistics of their recent relationship. She dropped the bomb two days before the awards show, during an interview with Real 923 LA. Renner said they got married on April 6 and divorced on May 28, but they’re under a 90-day reconciliation period per their religion. She converted to Islam in August 2024. She has not revealed what led to the split.
Renner also said she plans to stay single and focus on herself during the waiting period. The break-up news comes after weeks of Brittany Renner and Kevin Gates showering each other with public praise and stepping out together to public events.

Every time Kevin and Brittany come up, so do questions about Dreka Gates. The rapper has been married to the holistic wellness entrepreneur since 2015, with no reports of divorce or separation. They share two children. She’s not one to feed into online chatter, especially concerning Gates. Most recently, Dreka clocked social media rumors about whether she’s been dating outside of her marriage, too. She was not present at the BET Awards this year.
