Roommates, we are sending our deepest condolences to Keyshia Cole and her family during this difficult time. It has been reported that her mother Frankie has unfortunately passed away. Early Monday, family members started to share the news via social media.
Keyshia’s sister Elite made a post to her Instagram story and said, “Worse pain ever…to see my mama in a body bag on her birthday! My heart so f*ckin broke.”

Keyshia’s brother Sammy spoke with TMZ and shared more details about her passing. According to the site, Sammy says that Frankie passed away from a drug overdose at her home in Oakland. He said that she had been celebrating her birthday and she reportedly took drugs while celebrating, causing her to relapse.
From the beginning of her career, Keyshia has been open with her audience about her upbringing, and her family’s past, which also included her mother’s battle with addiction. Keyshia had several reality shows on BET including “Keyshia Cole: “The Way It Is,” “Keyshia & Daniel: Family First,” and “Keyshia Cole: All In.” On the show’s Frankie’s battle with addiction, and her road to sobriety were covered.
Keyshia has taken to social media several times in the past to encourage her mother and express how proud she was of her mother for sticking to her sobriety.
Last February she shared an update with her fans about her mom’s progress and said, “Do you believe in the power of love? What about lack thereof? 50/50 There’s strength in knowing there’s something or someone you can always lean back on. Someone to catch u when u fall. I’ve been being strong for you, hoping I’ll get a chance to feel that feeling from you.
