Kirk Franklin Speaks Out : The Bible Isn’t Written to Attack Gays!

If you have been keeping up with this season’s Love and HipHop Hollywood then you would have seen how Miles “coming out” story unfolded. One memorable scene was when Miles came out to his sisters and one of them said “We have morals. So what you just saying f*ck God..is that what you saying?” This statement does show the apparent homophobia that plagues the black community at times more so the black church.

Well Grammy Award winning Gospel artist, Kirk Franklin, has recently apologized on behalf of the black church for its homophobic nature.

The “Stomp” artist said, ”I want to apologize for all of the hurtful and painful things that have been said about people in the church that have been talented and gifted and musical, that we’ve used and we’ve embarrassed… and all this other horrible crap that we’ve done.”

Kirk wants the focus of church to get back to grace and love regardless of ones sexual preference. Kudos to Kirk Franklin for being a role model and denouncing “biblical bullying.”

Very few gospel artist in general have spoken out against how LGBT is heavily frowned upon in the black church. “We have not treated them like people. We’re talking about human beings, men and women that God has created, he told The Grio.

Kirk then made the perfect statement to sum it up,”I mean, you want to talk about things that God gets at… pride and jealousy and envy and arrogance,” he said. “But what we also see is God sending his son to save us all, because we were all… straight, gay or whatever, lost and in need of a savior, and there’s room at the cross for all of us.”

Roomies, lets chat below! Do you agree with Kirk apology?
