Kodak Black isn’t a stranger to doing things that people disagree with. It seems like every other week, it’s something new, and although folks shouldn’t be surprised by his actions, it seems like they always are. On June 14th, he popped out on the ‘gram in full MAGA gear and posted pictures to wish former President Donald Trump a happy 75th birthday. This week, it seems that Kodak has found himself at the helm of social media controversy yet again.
Two days ago, Kodak shared a photo wearing a Kobe Bryant jersey, standing near an exotic car and helicopter, both in Los Angeles Lakers colors. He captioned the post, writing, “I’m Ouchea 24 a Day I’m Like KOBE #KtB @kobebryant #HappyBirthdayKodak Out Now.”
Over 3,000 people took to Kodak’s comment section and called him out for being disrespectful. “Nobody on your team advised you not to do the helicopter,” one commented. Another commented, “Disrespectful @KodakBlack. Boy, you do anything for fame and money, Bro. No Bueno, you need a reality check.” As the backlash online continued, a recent interview with Kodak has resurfaced. Last week while at 99.5 Jamz radio station in Miami, wearing the same Kobe jersey, Kodak spoke with Supa Cindy and DJ Entice. Supa Cindy got straight to the point and asked, “Why is Kobe so important to you?”
“You know it’s like it was January 26, 2020, and I was in Oklahoma. I was still in prison. I heard about his unfortunate demise and stuff like that, you know what I’m saying,” Kodak explained. He continued saying that his plan was to come home on a helicopter after being released, but had second thoughts after learning about Kobe’s untimely death.
