More Details Regarding Lance Reddick’s Reported Cause Of Death
According to TMZ, Reddick’s death certificate lists his immediate cause as “Ischemic Heart Disease.” As well as “Atherosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease.”
Ischemic Heart Disease is also referred to as coronary artery disease or coronary heart disease. Furthermore, it “is the term given to heart problems caused by narrowed heart (coronary) arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle.”
The disease is explained further via the National Library of Medicine.
“Although the narrowing can be caused by a blood clot or by constriction of the blood vessel, most often it is caused by buildup of plaque, called atherosclerosis. When the blood flow to the heart muscle is completely blocked, the heart muscle cells die, which is termed a heart attack or myocardial infarction.”
According to the National Library of Medicine, most people with early onset of the disease “do not experience symptoms or limitation of blood flow.” However, if the disease is left untreated, “symptoms may occur” and can be heightened during periods of “exercise or emotional stress, when the demand for the oxygen carried by the blood increases.”
Atherosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease also refers to the “buildup of fats, cholesterol, and other substances in and on the artery walls,” as per the Mayo Clinic.
The buildup is called plaque, and the plaque can cause the arteries to also become narrow and block blood flow. Despite the disease being considered a “heart problem,” it can also impact arteries “anywhere in the body.”
Additionally, the document reportedly states that the late actor “was to be cremated.”
