Here’s What Yadira Ramirez Says Happened With Waffle House

For context, on Sept. 15, Latto took to X ( formerly Twitter) and challenged her fans to create videos for her song ‘Brokey,’ which debuted on her latest album, ‘Sugar Honey Iced Tea.’ The challenge was Latto’s reaction to people criticizing the financial privileges she bragged about in the lyrics.

“I hate that yall think I was calling hard workers brokeys. So I got $10k for whoever make the best video at they job to brokey & Ill fly u out to be in the music videono mo waiting til ur bday to go outta town. Tag me & hashtag #Brokey so I can see them all.”

Less than a week ago, Yadira shared a 27-second video of more than five Waffle House employees, including herself, participating in Latto’s challenge. In six days, the clip collected more than 23.4 million views, over 3.7 million likes, and nearly 19,000 comments. Its creativity really spoke to TikTok users, from the ‘Brokey’ receipt to the employees using signature WH foods, like waffles, as video props.

Yadira makes her only appearance in the video 16 seconds in to mouth the lyrics, “Yeah, I talk a lot of sh*t. He like who you think you is…” Then, the video cuts to another employee.

Two days after Yadira shared the Waffle House ‘Brokey’ challenge on TikTok, she returned to the platform with an update. In 42 seconds, she explained that the company fired her “a day” after the ‘Brokey’ challenge went live.

” A day after posting one video that literally harms nobody. That everybody was actually, literally rooting for and happy about. But whatever, it’s my decision, it’s my move…” Yadira said, also claiming that Waffle House put her on a “no-rehire” list.

Ramirez also stated that she worked at the restaurant for six years from the ages of 16-22. “All the bullsh*t I dealt with, thanks,” she added.

In a follow-up video, Yadira Ramirez clarified that she was the only person who appeared in the challenge who got fired. Additionally, she revealed that two managers were on-site when the employees filmed the ‘Brokey’ challenge, but they chose not to participate. Furthermore, she stated that the company policy doesn’t forbid phones, just trash-talking the company.

The Atlanta rapper wasted no time redeeming Yadira, though. In an update on Sept. 24, Ramirez appeared in the studio with Latto. The two did a lil’ twerk to ‘Brokey’ and then Yadira made a stack the artist gave her rain on them! See the link up below.
