Laurie Shaver, a Florida woman, has been convicted after she allegedly murdered her husband, Michael Shaver, and buried him in their backyard.

Here’s What Laurie Shaver Has Been Convicted Of
According to WESH, Laurie Shaver was convicted of second-degree murder on Friday, September 13. Furthermore, the outlet reports that the woman’s trial began on Monday, September 9, and the jury reached their verdict in the case after four hours of deliberation.
Laurie’s sentencing is reportedly scheduled for Monday, November 25, at 9 a.m. At this time, she has reportedly been booked into the Florida Department of Corrections.
“…Michael was a great son, brother, father, uncle and friend. He loved his life, his job, his family, his friends, the airplane that he worked on,” Michael Shaver’s family stated after Laurie’s guilty verdict, per Fox 35 Orlando. “The list could go on and on. He did not deserve what happened to him. His friends and family and now the public know what a great man he was. He will forever live on in our hearts. Michael will never be forgotten. We can be at peace knowing the story is known by all.”
Per WESH, Laurie’s family reportedly plans to appeal her verdict.

Here’s What The Florida Woman Allegedly Did To Her Husband
According to Fox 35 Orlando, Laurie’s husband, Michael Shaver, was reported missing in 2015. Three years later, his body was reportedly found in their backyard “buried beneath a fire pit and concrete slab.” Additionally, Michael was reportedly discovered with a gunshot wound to his head.
Per the case’s prosecutors, Laurie allegedly “pretended to be her husband for months after his death.” She reportedly communicated with his friends, family, and colleagues. Additionally, prosecutors even asserted that Laurie alleged Michael had moved out of state, leaving their family behind.
While taking the stand, Laurie reportedly alleged that Michael “was mad that she became pregnant.” The pair allegedly fought before Michael was fatally shot.
A 17-Year-Old Florida Teen Is Also Now Facing Murder Charges
In a separate case taking place in Florida, a 17-year-old is also facing murder charges. As The Shade Room previously reported, Collin Griffith is accused of fatally stabbing his mother, Catherine, on September 8.
Collin reportedly told authorities his mother had fallen on a knife during a “very long fight.”
Furthermore, Collin was charged with first-degree murder. However, authorities are reportedly also considering his potential involvement in a previous murder case — involving the death of his father in Oklahoma.
On February 14, 2023, Collin allegedly called authorities to report that he had shot his father in self-defense. In a subsequent case, Collin was reportedly resolved on murder charges. However, per PEOPLE, it remains unclear whether the murder of Collin’s mother will reopen his father’s case.
