Lavar Ball is receiving backlash following the comment he made towards Molly Querim while he appeared on ESPN’s “First Take.” During their discussion, Molly said she wanted to switch gears, to which Lavar responded and said, “You can switch gears with me anytime.”
It wasn’t too long before some people accused him of making an inappropriate comment. According to USA Today, ESPN released a statement and said, “LaVar Ball’s comment to Molly Qerim Rose was completely inappropriate and we made him aware of that.”
A rep for LaVar issued a statement to TMZ and said, “[LaVar] was asked if he wanted to switch gears, in his mind switching gears was ‘changing the subject anytime’ and he said, ‘yes, you can switch gears with me anytime.’ At NO time was that intended or meant to be sexual in nature.”
On Tuesday, TMZ caught up with Molly in New York City and asked her about the incident. She said she hasn’t heard from LaVar or anyone from the Ball family about an apology.
“I haven’t heard from anybody, but to be honest with you I shut my phone off after work,” she said.
When asked about how her husband Jalen Rose has handled the situation, she said, “I think Jalen would have just liked if he would have apologized to me publicly.”

Kudos to Molly Querim for the professional way she handled LaVar Ball after his inappropriate comment. Maybe ESPN will have finally learned its lesson about putting him on TV.
