Laverne Cox Makes History and Lands Network Series Gig as the First Transgender

Miss Laverne Cox is pretty new to Hollywood and has come to slay and take her thrown. The ‘Orange is the New Black’ actress is making history as the first transgender network series regular on CBS’s new show, ‘Doubt’, and she will also star in FOX’s version of ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show.’

This is a huge milestone in her career. Before starting on #OITNB, Cox performed drag at a restaurant, and was a struggling actress.

According to E! as Cox sat on the panel at the TCA Summer Press Tour, she described to the audience how she was able to reach her goals and also make history.

“I visualized it, I dreamed it. I think you have to begin to manifest things before they happen and so I dreamed about it and I worked towards this moment for a really long time. I’ve been really lucky. As Oprah Winferey reminds us, ‘Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.’ So maybe I’m just prepared.”

Yes, of course it is easier said than done, but if you work at something long enough and believe in yourself in the end everything you worked for comes back in beautiful way.

In the new network series, ‘Doubt,’ Cox will play a transgender attorney, Cameron Wirth. She describes her character as being more than just transgender. Cox says, “Cameron fights like hell for her clients and is really good at what she does.”

There’s so much pressure in this new chapter of her life, but Cox is in great spirits and we are excited to see her on network television.

Congrats girl!
