Lebron James Charity Expands To Helping Ohio Adults Get Their GED

LeBron James started The LeBron James Family Foundation because he wanted to leave a lasting impact on the world, even after his basketball career was over.

Now, he’s responsible for over 800 young people working to stay in school and make a life for themselves. Joe Vardon from Cleveland.com wrote, “It’s through his foundation that James developed a mentoring program called Wheels For Education, to help kids beginning in the third grade — identified as “at risk” of dropping out — through their graduation from high school.”

It was announced today that LeBron’s foundation has teamed up with Project Learn, who’s purpose is helping adults obtain their GEDs!

Joe Vardon from Cleveland.com reported, “…parents of the children enrolled in the LeBron James Family Foundation’s scholastic mentorship program can get financial and emotional support to obtain high school equivalency credentials and learn other life skills.”

The program is called ‘I Promise, Too’ and currently has nine students who will be taught by instructors from Project Learn! It’s only available to parents of children that are enrolled in Wheels For education and I Promise Network, by the way.

Vardon also detailed some of the details of the program, and LeBron just continues to prove to be a standup guy. “In the new program, enrollees received an inspirational letter from the Cavaliers superstar basketball player, HP laptop computers that they can keep if they finish the classes, and free bus passes and parking to attend class.

Participants will also have covered the $6 cost to take the GED practice test and $120 cost for taking the entire official GED exam. The foundation will also provide prizes for good attendance, work progress, and other achievements.”
According to Cleveland.com, The LeBron James Family Foundation spends at least $1 million per year on education. To think, more people are really concerned with what team he stays on, it’s evident that he had to do what he had to do in order to put on for his city like they deserve! Congratulations, LeBron for your new collaboration with Project Learn! You’re changing so many lives!
