Lil Nas X Mourns His Mom With Heartfelt Tribute
The ‘Old Town Road’ hitmaker shared throwback photos of his mother, Tameka Hill, alongside a brief but emotional tribute. “RIP TO THE BADDEST EVER! LOVE U FOREVER, MOMMY,” Lil Nas X, 27, wrote. “This one’s gonna hurt.” Further details surrounding Hill’s death had not been publicly revealed at the time of publication. Us Weekly reports that Hill is survived by Lil Nas X and her multiple other children.

He Previously Opened Up About Their Complicated Relationship
While Lil Nas X has rarely spoken publicly about his relationship with his mother, he previously acknowledged that the two had a complicated dynamic. In a 2020 interview, the artist, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, said his mother struggled with addiction and that they weren’t particularly close.
“I never really talk about my mom. She’s an addict, so we don’t have the closest relationship,” he said at the time. He also explained that he had attempted to help his mother but that things “didn’t quite work out,” while emphasizing that there was still love between them. Hill’s death also comes during a significant period in Lil Nas X’s own life.
