Lil Wayne Files Motion To Force Birdman’s ‘Cash Money Records’ To Produce Documents In Years-Long $51 Million Lawsuit

Lil Wayne Files Motion To Force Birdman’s ‘Cash Money Records’ To Produce Documents In Years-Long $51 Million Lawsuit

The ongoing legal battle between #Birdman and #LilWayne just keeps getting messier and messier, y’all. On February 21, he filed a motion to basically force Birdman’s Cash Money label to produce documents in their almost 4-year long legal battle.

In case you forgot, the rapper accused the Cash Money CEO of breach of contract back in 2014 after they delayed nor paid him for #ThaCarterV. He wanted to be released from his contract with the label and also sued for $51 million in order to compensate for the owed pay as well as damages for the album not being released. Almost four years later, the lawsuit is still dragging, because, according to Wayne, Birdman still won’t hand over the necessary documents that may help Wayne’s case against him.

Blast reports that 121,000 pages of legal documents were turned over, however they were mostly accounting reports prepared by Universal Music Group—Cash Money’s parent label. Apparently, Cash Money was ordered to turn over documents needed for the investigation all this time, but they just won’t give them up. According to Wayne, Cash Money has reportedly earned $200 million in cash flow over the years, however the label has no accounting records, no general ledger, no bank account records and no tax returns. Yikes!

In addition to all of this mess, Wayne has also requested documents on #Drake, #NickiMinaj and the label from as far back as 2011, but you guessed it—Cash Money wont hand those over either. They say that they don’t have any documents on Nicki, but that would be virtually impossible since she has released music with them over the years. Wayne was also seeking out info on Drake’s deals with Cash Money but it’s the same story with them—they claim to have no documents.

Via The Blast:

“Weezy’s motion also accuses Cash Money of not turning over records of payments the label made to Birdman and his brother, Ronald Williams. Further, he says they refuse to hand over all tax returns from 2011. He says, ‘Unless Cash Money admits to criminal failure to file tax returns for 2011 to present, Cash Money must produce these returns.’”

A judge has yet to rule, but we’ll keep y’all updated!
