Lil Wayne Rewards 150 Over-Achieving Students With ‘Weezy Christmas’ Party At Dave & Busters In New Orleans

Rapper Lil Wayne is spreading some holiday cheer with his latest initiative. The 40-year-old teamed up with fellow Young Money mate Mack Maine and threw a celebration for 150 high-achieving students at a Dave & Busters in New Orleans.

“A Weezy Christmas”

According to TMZ, the rappers teamed up with Wilson Sporting Goods for the event called “A Weezy Christmas.” It celebrated students between the ages of 12 and 16 for “excelling in academics” and participating in local community sports programs.

In addition to playing the Dave & Busters games and taking photos with Santa Clause, each student was also treated to brand-new sports equipment.

Lil Wayne, also referred to as Lil Tunechi, took to Instagram to share photos of the event. As well as some words.

In an exclusive press release shared with Billboard, the rapper spoke further about the event.

Whether its learning about sportsmanship, teamwork, or just using the field as a way to escape everyday stresses, we wanted to make sure these kids get to experience impactful moments.

Lil Wayne’s Additional Philanthropic Efforts

Outside of the Christmas party, Wayne is also giving back to his hometown of New Orleans in other ways. According to TMZ, the “How To Love” rapper is also working on an athletic program in Harrell Park.

In addition, he and Mack Maine are working with two mentorship programs that encourage children to dream big and become leaders in their communities.

Wayne Is Giving Back Despite It Being His Season To Receive

The 40-year-old recently achievedDiamond certification for his 2008 single “Lollipop.” The achievement was awarded by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Wayne took to Instagram to share his shock and Diamond plaque with the world. He also thanked his co-writer, the late Static Major.

Wayne also followed up with a short video, expressing his gratitude.
