Roomies, the 2025 Met Gala is officially underway! In case you missed it, this year’s exhibition is titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Per NPR, this year’s event reinforces a “Tailored For You” dress code or red carpet theme. Additionally, the event intends to pay homage to the “18th century dandy” era, focusing on “menswear and tailored suiting.”
“Black Dandyism is a form of performance, identity, and individuality,” acclaimed costume designer Ruth E. Carter told the outlet. “It’s how we define ourselves. It’s a cultural declaration — male or female, or any gender… genderless… garments of protest… garments of freedom… about how we stylize trends from Harlem to Chicago to Texas… how we made a way out of no way.”
Now, The Shade Room is runnin’ down the list of the women hittin’ the carpet and servin’ up “superfine” style in their tailored ‘fits. Keep scrolling to see them all below.
