Chicago Mother Speaks Out After She And 9-Year-Old Son Were Attacked By A Group Of Minors (VIDEOS)

People in the neighborhood told CBS News that it’s not the first time the group has been violent. A woman named Shanice Davis said she’s recognized the attackers in the viral video. Also, she claimed they’ve “vandalized cars” and “harassed adults and children.”

“I couldn’t sleep. I was traumatized. I could not sleep. I couldn’t believe it,” Davis reportedly said. “This is not the first time the kids have done this. Just talk around the streets that these kids have pretty much been raising themselves, and they have not been held accountable.”

As mentioned, officials in Chicago have also responded publicly to the violent incident, including Mayor Brandon Johnson, who said the video was deeply disturbing. Johnson also said the “senseless violence” must not be “normalized.” While he promised to keep an eye on the situation involving the Chicago Public School, his statement also highlighted the need for resources in the public education system. Especially “counselors and mental health specialists.”

“We must redouble our efforts to teach our young people that violence is never an acceptable response. Our students and families should always feel safe on their way to and from school and we must make the critical investments necessary to make that a reality in every part of our city. I’m grateful for the community residents who have rallied to support the family and I am calling for calm as we conduct a full investigation and ensure there is accountability for the attackers and healing for the victims,” Mayor Johnson said.

As the community awaits next steps from the school and police, two videos have surfaced online of mothers claiming their kids were involved in jumping Corshawnda and her son.

In a 15-second video reposted by the My Mixtapez blog on X, a woman tells a young boy that all of Chicago is “looking for him” and his “lil friends.” The child is standing in the background while the mother speaks into the camera, seemingly lying down. It’s unclear to what extent the woman’s son was allegedly involved in the attack, and The Shade Room has not been able to identify the child in the video.

“…Cause you was wrong yesterday. You was wrong and you was gon’ jump somebody, so now they looking for you. You know I’m not helping you, right,” the woman says before the clip cuts off.

Another short clip shows a woman introducing her daughter and identifying her as one of the children involved in the attack on Monday. The mother said they were livestreaming so her daughter can “say her piece and take accountability.” She asked viewers to keep their comments respectful because her daughter is “a child.” In between tears, the child said she was “wrong for everything that [she] did.” The girl said that she was “just being a follower and following everybody who don’t” have “anything” she has.”

“And I apologize for everything because I wouldn’t want to be in that situation…I wish I would’ve never did what I did,” the child said.
