That changed about a week ago after the lovebirds attended the 2025 Film Independent Spirit Awards together. Now, a resurfaced video of Colman recalling their “how we met” story is also going viral. How Colman Domingo & Raúl Met
This week, the internet is stuck on a clip of Colman Domingo explaining how he met his hubby. The actor spilled his relationship tea last year on ‘The Graham Norton Show.’ The nearly three-minute video shows Domingo breaking down the unconventional way he bagged Raúl in 2005.
That year, he was walking into a Walgreens in Berkley, California, when he spotted a “beautiful” man with “beautiful hair…lip piercing.” Colman was on the phone while the mystery man was with a woman who was poppin’ off for an unknown reason. Still, the man and Domingo continued to make eye contact before he and the woman walked away. The actor said he felt “dumbfounded” but ended up inside a Blockbuster across the street.
But the “hopeless romantic” in Domingo Colman couldn’t let the first meet go. While scanning Craigslist to purchase a used computer, he considered placing a “missed connection” ad on the site about his lil’ mystery friend! However, while reading some of the existing ones, Domingo noticed that the mystery man had placed an ad about him!
“He placed an ad for me two hours before,” Domingo said, adding that his future husband described him by his fo-hawk. Three days later, Domingo Colman and Raúl had their first date in a San Francisco bar. He spent the night for cuddles, and a 4 a.m. confession led to two decades of love.
“I thought he was asleep; four o’clock in the morning, I couldn’t sleep, and I said I think I love you, and you’re about to change my life, and we’ve been together almost 19 years now.”
