Here’s What Has Been Shared About The Pediatric Patient & Passengers Onboard The Learjet
As The Shade Room previously reported, a Learjet 55 crashed into the area. It immediately sparked flames in nearby houses, cars, and the streets of Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard. Per 6abc Philadelphia, the jet was on medical assignment with a final destination of Tijuana, Mexico.
Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, Mexico’s president, confirmed via X, formerly known as Twitter, that the six passengers onboard were Mexican nationals. Furthermore, NBC Philadelphia adds that the victim’s identities have not been released. However, one passenger was a child patient traveling with their mother. Additionally, the four others are believed to have been “a pilot, copilot, doctor, and paramedic.”
Per the outlet, the child received medical treatment at Shriners Children’s Philadelphia for a “life-threatening condition.” The child received the treatment, reportedly sponsored by a third-party charity, and “was going home.”
“She fought quite a lot to survive, and unfortunately, this tragedy on the way home,” Shai Gold, a spokesperson for Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, reportedly asserted.
Per the outlet, privacy laws prevent the child’s identity from being revealed.
The Patient’s Hospital Reportedly Reacts To The Jet Crash In Northeast Philadelphia
According to NBC Philadelphia, Mel Bower, a spokesperson for Shriners, the news of the crash been “devastating” to the hospital’s staff. Furthermore, the hospital reportedly released a statement in reaction to the tragedy, per NBC San Diego.
“Shriners Children’s is heartbroken to confirm that one of our pediatric patients and the child’s mother were aboard the Jet Rescue Air Ambulance that crashed in Philadelphia this evening. The patient had received care from Shriners Children’s Philadelphia and was being transported back to her home country in Mexico on a contracted air ambulance when the crash happened. Because of patient privacy concerns, we cannot say any more about the patient and her family at this time. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the medical crew and pilots who were also lost in this tragic event – as well as all of the people who were affected on the ground – and we’re thankful to the first responders for their quick action,” the statement reads.

Per the outlet, at this time, it has been reported that at least six individuals on the ground experienced injuries from the fatal impact of the Learjet. An 11-year-old boy reportedly sustained a head injury; a 31-year-old man reportedly sustained a head injury; and a 30-year-old woman reportedly sustained a facial injury. CNN adds that at least one person passed away.

To add, the collision occurred the same week a Black Hawk military jet collided with an American Airlines passenger plane over the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. As The Shade Room previously reported, the collision remains under investigation and reportedly spawned at least 67 casualties.
