Alleged Texts Released Of Rape Accuser Confronting Shannon Sharpe As Dr. Umar, Stephen A. Smith, & More Celebs React

As he went on, Smith explained that he’s “torn” about Sharpe’s recent public responses to the allegations against him. On one hand, he appears to understand why Sharpe noted attorney Tony Buzbee’s recent cases and his apparent pursuit of high-profile Black men. However, Smith also noted that Buzbee has represented apparent credible claims in the sexual assault case against Deshaun Watson.

“When his legal team issued out the press release on X yesterday, and they mentioned her name and they revealed some of those explicit text messages, that was uncomfortable,” Smith went on to say. “And I don’t know if that’s a strategy that would work.”

Ultimately, Smith shared that he’s spoken to Sharpe and “he’s emphatically proclaimed his innocence.” He added that Buzbee has “prophatically proclaimed his guilt.” Nonetheless, in his “perfect world,” he hopes that the allegations turn out to be false. However, the facts of the matter will ultimately have to be gathered as the truth reveals itself.

Dr. Umar Johnson also weighed in on the allegations against Shannon Sharpe while taking to a recent livestream. In footage chronicled by The Shade Room, Dr. Umar explained that he’s “standing with Uncle Shannon” because he “doesn’t like when Black men are taken down.”

“I got to stand by — yes, he’s a lifetime snow bunny hopper… but that’s my brother,” he added. “…I’m standing with Uncle Shannon Sharpe until the facts prove otherwise.”

Furthermore, Dr. Umar told Sharpe, “No more bunnies after this.”

On Wednesday, April 23, Charlamagne Tha God shared his thoughts on the matter via ‘The Breakfast Club.’ In a clip uploaded to the radio show’s official YouTube channel, Charla explained that people’s “destiny” isn’t “a matter of chance, it’s a matter of choice.”

“And all of this is happening because it seems like Shannon Sharpe made some poor choices,” he added while noting Sharpe allegedly choosing to be involved with a woman 30 years his junior. “…It is what it is — it’s a shakedown, but people can’t shake you down unless you give them something to shake.”

On Wednesday, April 23, a new episode of ‘It Is What It Is’ was released via YouTube. During the hour-long episode, Cam’ron touched on the sexual assault allegations and the $50 million lawsuit filed against Shannon Sharpe.  Cam explained that “there’s one thing to be a successful athlete and another thing to be a successful entertainer.”

“When you have this newfound success, you have to know how to move, especially with the b*****s,” Cam explained in part. “…They want something…”

Nonetheless, Cam shared that Sharpe’s relationship with his accuser appeared to be consensual to some degree. Additionally, he added that he felt Sharpe’s accuser attempted to “bait” him into the instances of abuse, and explained that he felt the former pro athlete trusted the woman ” a little too much.”

“You gotta read all these signs,” Cam said. “…This is why Stephen A. don’t get iinto no s**t like this. He knows that he works for Disney and when you work for Disney, a sextape can’t be coming out like this.”

Ultimately, Cam’ron added that Sharpe apparently attempting to settle with the woman before the allegations became public could imply a level of guilt on his end. Despite this, the rapper explained that he hopes Sharpe’s business ventures and relationships remain intact as the allegations and case ultimately unfold.

“I don’t know how this gon’ play out, but I do know it don’t look good when you try to give somebody a couple dollars to sweep it under the rug,” he concluded.

On Thursday, April 24, 9MagTv published a YouTube video apparently chronicling a recent livestream of Ray J’s. In the clip, Ray explained that he’s been keeping up with the events in Sharpe’s case. Humorously, he added that bondage and BDSM activity is not quite his thing in the bedroom, then jokingly went on to recall an experience he supposedly had with Princess Love.

According to Complex, Charleston White recently took to Instagram Live and shared his thoughts on the allegations against Sharpe. Ultimately, he explained that he believes Gabriella Zuniga’s sexual assault allegations

“And I believe her! I don’t think she lying. I don’t think these white people sent this white girl to get you, I think you like raw meat,” he said. “You like your steak medium-rare, I like mine well-done, black like the cook… I used to like white girls, ’til I realized I ain’t freaky enough for ’em.”

On Friday, April 25, Instagram user @livebitez shared footage of an apparent recent livestream by Peter Gunz. In an initial clip, Gunz spoke about having multiple mothers of his children. However, he seemingly noted that they never placed him under pressurized legal situations, such as fighting for child support. Furthermore, in a second clip, Gunz stated that “20 is of age.”

“…It sounds a little money grab-ish to me,” he continued, speaking of Zuniga’s lawsuit. “…those text messages he showed sound like a stick-up. However, it’s hard to feel sorry about people with money who make those kind of [decisions] — it’s way too many girls out here… You gotta know how to pick ’em, baby — gotta know how to pick ’em.”

As The Shade Room previously reported, on Sunday, April 20, a $50 million lawsuit was filed against Sharpe in Nevada. Furthermore, the suit accused him of “assault, sexual assault, battery, and sexual battery, and… intentional infliction of emotional distress” against “Jane Doe.”

Subsequent reports alleged that Doe and Sharpe were involved in a “rocky consensual relationship” for almost two years. During this time, the woman was reportedly 30 years Sharpe’s junior, and was allegedly subjected to their sexual escapades being recorded and shared with others.

After September 2024, the woman apparently wanted to end her relationship with Sharpe. Around this time, he had gone viral for incidentally livestreaming during a sexual encounter with another woman. Instead of ending the relationship with Doe, she alleges that he “relentless pursued” her.

On instances in October 2024 and January 2025, the lawsuit alleges that the woman, was allegedly raped by Sharpe. Additionally, the suit asserts that she was subjected to unprotected, forcible sex and was threatened with physical assault. To note, the lawsuit was filed by Tony Buzbee, who recently made headlines for a botched sexual assault case against Jay-Z.

In response, Lanny Davis, an attorney for Sharpe, released a statement proclaiming his innocence, per The Shade Room. Additionally, the statement revealed Doe’s identity as Gabriella Zuniga and included NSFW texts she allegedly sent to Sharpe. These texts, per Davis, prove that Zuniga’s relationship with Sharpe was consensual. Additionally, his statement alleged that Zuniga is trying to extort Sharpe with threats of releasing a “heavily edited” sextape in which it appears their encounter was not consensual.

By April 22, the accuser appeared to hit back at Davis’ statement and exposing of her identity by releasing audio, allegedly of a Sharpe threatening to choke the “s**t” out of her, per The Shade Room. To date, the authenticity of the audio has not been publicly confirmed.

In response, Sharpe issued a video statement, proclaiming his innocence and his apparent plan to countersue Zuniga and Buzbee for defamation.

Now, in a recent turn of events, TMZ has published text messages received from Zuniga of her allegedly confronting Sharpe over the January 2025 rape incident. In screenshots, Zuniga tells Sharpe that she “cried” after he left because she “begged” him to use protection not engage in anal sex with her.

“I don’t care what our history is, no means no shannon,” her alleged text reads, followed by. “I don’t know how to process this.”

In response, Sharpe allegedly asks to call her later. At this time, it remains unclear what conversation, if any, continued between the pair from that point. To note, additional texts received by the outlet and The Shade Room appear to show an extensive text history between the pair, apparently dating back to 2023.

On Wednesday, April 23, Zuniga’s legal team continued to publish evidence, allegedly of Sharpe’s behavior. Audio released to TMZ appears to show Zuniga being threatened with additional choking threats. On Thursday, April 24, Sharpe continued to trend for ‘Nightcap’ footage resurfacing, which seemed to show him speaking suggestively about an OnlyFans model, per The Shade Room.

Furthermore, that same day, Sharpe announced that he would be temporarily stepping away from ESPN. By Friday, April 25, a woman who reportedly accused Sharpe of sexual assault in a 2023 defamation suit came forward with her thoughts on the current allegations against him.
