Whew! Roomies, is it getting hot in here, or is it just Essence stirring the pot? The outlet has social media users weighing in on the hottest male celebrities after revealing Damson Idris and Russell Wilson as their first two men for ‘Sexiest Man of the Moment.’

It’s unclear how many of Hollywood’s finest Essence plans to highlight and from what lanes of celebrity-hood they’ll pick. However, the publication debuted the list on Monday (April 8).
Essence’s First Pick: Damson Idris
The publication selected Damson Idris as their first May/June cover star, and their description of the actor spoke volumes! In their debut post on Instagram, Essence wrote:
“The Foundation of a man. He stands 6’1, with deep auburn skin and a 4K pearly smile that glistens like ultraviolet rays off charcoal mines in the deepest sands off the coast of Nigeria. Yes, it’s that deep. His charm is tangible. His infectiousness is palatable. His future is limitless.”
The cover photo showed Damson in a deep red leather suit with his bare chest peeking through. But that’s not the only photo they shared. In fact, the outlet shared a spread that appears touched by the romance theme. They show the ‘Snowfall actor’ in other suits, from all-black to a white suit jacket adorned with a large red rose.
Essence also spoke at length with Damson, highlighting his desire to start his own family, how Balck women make him feel, and why he thinks he’s the ‘Sexiest Man of the Moment.’ Speaking on being raised by a single mother, Damson said:
“I just have a love for women. My mother was a Black woman, and that love there stays with me. I feel protected by Black women. I feel loved by Black women. I feel at home. My mother is my hero, my best friend, my guru.”
