Mike Tyson & Jake Paul Speak Out After Their Viral Boxing Match 

It’s been less than 24 hours since Mike Tyson and Jake Paul faced off in the ring! Now, both boxers have spoken out about the results of their match. If you’re catching up, Paul took home the W on Nov. 16 after going eight rounds with the champ!

Mike Tyson Addresses His Match With Jake Paul

As mentioned, Mike Tyson, 58, came up short after taking on the 27-year-old. However, in a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), Tyson seems unfazed by taking an L. He explained that his health scare earlier this year, combined with his struggle to get healthy again, made the match worth it.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in the ring one last time,” Tyson wrote. “I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in the hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.”

Mike added that his children witnessed him stand tall, and fight against someone half his age is big enough of an award. “To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you,” Mike Tyson wrote.

Jake Paul Seemingly Suggests He Took It Easy On Tyson

Within two hours of posting his tweet, Mike Tyson received over 11,000 responses, and Jake Paul was among them. “Love you, Mike. It was an honor. You’re an inspiration to us all,” Paul wrote.

It’s the same tone he’s maintained since being declared the boxing match winner. In the ring, Jake bowed to Mike Tyson as a sign of respect.

Outside the ring, especially on X, Paul cleared the air on how much he respects Mike. Piers Morgan suggested people are mocking Mike but said that Tyson, in his prime, would’ve “destroyed” Jake. Paul clapped back, “Who mocked him? He’s a f**king beast. All respect to the baddest ever. It was an honor to share the ring with him @MikeTyson.” 

He shared another message of love for Mike on X on Saturday. “Record breaking. Love you Mike,” Jake Paul wrote, adding a photo of them in the ring.

While Jake Paul seemingly aims to be respectful in his Mike Tyson comments, he also kept it 100 percent when speaking with the media after the match. He told the press that he wanted to be more aggressive with Tyson in the ring, especially after the champ slapped him at the weigh-in.

However, Jake said his mindset changed as the fight in the ring progressed.

“Yeah, definitely,” Paul replied to a question about taking his “foot off the gas” after round three. “I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt.”

When asked if he felt Mike’s power in the punches he landed, Jake Paul said no. He then responded, “I mean a little bit,” when asked if he “carried Mike.”

“There was a point where I just like ‘Okay he’s not really engaging back…I could just tell his age was showing a little bit and I just have so much respect for him. And that violence/war thing between us after he slapped me, I wanted to be aggressive, and take him down, and knock him out and all that stuff. But that kind of went away as the rounds went on.”

Jake Paul Responds To Gervonta Calling Him Out

Following the match, Gervonta Davis took to Instagram Stories with a message for Jake Paul.

“To the bozo that shared the ring w Mike…you a whole bozo for this and you didn’t get the job done [poop emoticon] head…,” Gervonta wrote.  He also reportedly challenged Paul to a match, saying he’d “beat the brakes” off of him.

Paul reacted to Davis’ comments both during the press conference after the fight and on X. During the press conference, Paul said, “Yeah, I mean, I’d be down. Let’s run it. I’d be super, super down.” He also jokingly asked, “Is there a height limit?” 

Paul reiterated his jokey joke on X, writing, “Gerventa Davis is just angry he’s not tall enough to ride rollercoasters at Disney World. I’m sorry little buddy. I know it’s not fair.”

The Game Defends Mike Tyson's Legacy

Meanwhile, there were more than a few celebrities among the 50 million households that tuned into the Netflix special. One of those celebs seemed to be The Game. Following Mike Tyson’s loss, the rapper popped off on X about other celebrities trash-talking Mike’s legacy.

“I see all these weird celebrities n!%%as saying Mike looked bad, this was sad & disgusting etc… yall goofy. I saw a 58 year old legend go 8 rounds with a 27 year old in front of the world in a sold out football stadium n walk away with 20 million dollars, his dignity & yet another achievement he said was only for HIM. I’m proud of you champ,” The Game wrote.

Ironically, before the boxing match, Mike Tyson didn’t hold back a single thought while explaining to kid reporter Jazzy why the word “legacy” means nothing to him.
