Social Media Reacts To Houston Daycare Offering Late Night Care

After sharing her experience with a late-night Houston daycare, a mother is blowing up on social media. Creator Alicia Hodge went viral on TikTok and other platforms after revealing she recently used the daycare for a “mama break.”

More Details On The Late-Night Houston Daycare

In the video, Alicia dropped her daughter off at about 10 p.m. and told a front-desk worker she would return in an hour or two. The employee then informed her that the center closes at midnight.

Alicia says she returned about five minutes before closing time. She added that the kids, about 20 of them, had even enjoyed a glow-in-the-dark party.

Unfortunately, for the curious Houston parents, she didn’t share the establishment’s name.

The Roomies Weigh In

After The Shade Room shared the mom’s video, the roommates stepped in with their reactions. The majority applauded the Houston daycare for being innovative and helping out parents without alternative childcare options.

@shunmelson wrote, “Smart, a safe place to leave your kids instead of at home alone or in the car. Everybody doesn’t work 9-5.”

@brandybnb_ said, This is a great idea. Not everyone has a sitters or family willing to help out. I wish when my kids where younger. I love this for her.”

@hardinbeauty wrote, This is a great option for young moms, overwhelmed moms, 3rd shift moms, hell any mom that need a break. I love it!”

One roommate shared her alleged personal experience with the Houston daycare in the video.

@tea2legit shared,I take my kids to this exact childcare in Houston when I have events to attend and it’s awesome! My kids love it there. I dropped them off the first time to attend a friend’s birthday event and they were upset when I picked them up because they had made new friends and were having so much fun.”

But while some roomies were here for it, others were not. Amid the 9,000+ comments on TSR’s Instagram post, more than a few shared their own versions of “hell nah.”
@thee_therapeutic_estie wrote, “Nope I’m to scared ! But no judgment for those that do because for a lot of mothers this will be great!”
@nemoloyal added, “Nah this ain’t it,” with a face plant emoticon.
@celestial_gab wrote, “Nope. At that time of night churrin need to be with safe family. Key word SAFE!”
@denise.d_nails suggested she’s with it on a conditional basis. She wrote, “I mean I understand, but I’m not dropping off my child late night to go party, but if it was for work, it’s a yes for me.”

Safety Has Been A MAJOR Concern Amid Rise In Daycare Incidents

As highlighted by some of the reactions, daycare safety is a common conversation. The Shade Room has previously reported on multiple instances of kids experiencing harm at centers.

Last year, TSR Investigates’ deep-dived into a case of a 6-month-old’s hand being burned by a caretaker at a New Orleans daycare and a similar situation at a Georgia daycare.

Earlier this month, a former Indiana daycare director was sentenced for giving children melatonin without their parent’s consent. The director, Tonya Rachelle Voris, got 730 days in jail, but will only serve 180 behind bars. The remaining 550 will be served on probation. She pleaded guilty to 17 counts in connection to misusing the melatonin gummies.
