Teyana Taylor is speaking on the upcoming Dionne Warwick biopic, which she says is already in the works!
Specifically, Teyana’s acknowledging how she’s committed to truly getting to know Dionne ahead of the project.

Teyana Wants To 'Lock In' With Dionne To Prepare
The “Bare With Me” singer spoke on the biopic during a sit-down on the Tamron Hall Show earlier this week.
After noting that the project is “in the building process” and actively being worked on, she shared that she aspires to really “lock in” with Dionne ahead of the role.
“I’ve always wanted to make sure I could lock in with any person that I would be playing.”
Teyana then brought up how she hopes to emulate Angela Bassett and Jamie Foxx’s roles in What’s Love Got to Do with It and Ray, respectively.
“I miss when movies were like that, when you really get to know them and tap in.”
However, as the 32-year-old says that she and Dionne “talk almost every day,” it sounds like she’s definitely doin’ her homework!
After all, when speaking on Dionne, Teyana proclaimed, “That’s my girl!”

Dionne Warwick Feeling 'As Safe As Possible' Is The Top Priority
While continuing to address her upcoming role, Teyana Taylor warmly said that she’s committed to “making [Dionne] feel as safe as possible” with the project.
“I’ve always been a firm believer and always just stood on safety. She’s had a wonderful career, and I think right now is about making her feel as safe as possible.”
She also shared that the team behind the biopic isn’t interested in churning out a “misconstrued” or “extremely dramatized” project.
“To be able to tell her story—because a lot of these stories get misconstrued or extremely dramatized to an extent, and that’s not really where we really want to go.”

Dionne Hand-Picked Teyana Taylor For The Role Years Ago
Speaking of the upcoming biopic, we should add that the Dionne Warwick personally hand-picked Teyana Taylor for the project back in late 2020 while essentially pitching the idea to Netflix.

Months later, as The Shade Room previously reported, Dionne confirmed that “a series” about her was in the works, and she shared that Teyana would be “very much invovled.”
“She’s very excited about the prospects of being involved and she’s also going to be very, very much involved in directing it and putting together parts and parcel of how we see this going.”
