More Details On What Was Submitted To Judge Arun Subramanian
On Monday, September 22, Diddy’s legal team submitted their sentencing memorandum to the Judge. Per Google search, a sentencing memorandum is a document submitted “by a defense attorney.” This, “before a sentencing hearing to advocate for a more favorable sentence for a defendant.”
Furthermore, the memorandum asserted that the government but “heinous” racketeering and sex trafficking accusations against Diddy. However, after an eight-week trial, it failed to prove its case.
“Mr. Combs must be sentenced for what the jury convicted him of — interstate transportation of fully consenting adults with intent to engage in prostitution,” the document reads.
Additionally, the document argues that Diddy’s 13 months behind bars have been “life changing” and “productive.” During this time, he has “gotten clean of all substances” and “made significant progress.” However, his doctors reportedly believe his continued treatment and therapy “can only effectively be provided outside of prison walls.” Furthermore, the lawyers also asserted that Diddy’s mother is ailing in health. And doesn’t know “how much longer” she “will be around.” Due to this, she would love to see him reunited with his children.
“In the past two years, Mr. Combs’s career and reputation have been destroyed. He has served over a year in one of the most notorious jails in America—yet has made the most of that punishment. It is time for Mr. Combs to go home to his family, so he can continue his treatment and try to make the most of the next chapter of his extraordinary life. A sentence no greater than 14 months is… the only just and fair sentence that could be imposed,” Diddy’s team asserted.
Lastly, Diddy’s team argued that following the 14-month sentence, he should be placed on supervised release with drug treatments, therapy, and group therapy visits.
