Lizzo Announces She’s Leaving Twitter—“Too Many Trolls”

Lizzo had an incredibly successful 2019. She topped the charts multiple times, won highly-coveted awards and scored the most Grammy nominations of any artist this year with eight nods. Now that we are officially in 2020, Lizzo apparently wants to keep nothing but good vibes around her—and as a result, has announced her official Twitter departure.

As we’ve seen time and again, the more successful you are, the more you have to deal with. One of the things that Lizzo does not want to deal with in 2020, is the toxicity that often comes with social media.

Sure, there are legions of fans who praise their favorite artists on a regular basis—but there are also a ton of trolls who make it their mission to put out negativity.

Lizzo has had her fair share of social media backlash, so she’s more than familiar with social media trolls, which appears to be too much for her to deal with right now. She recently posted to Twitter to announce that she would be leaving the platform.

Lizzo wrote:

“Yeah I can’t do this Twitter s**t no more.. too many trolls… I’ll be back when I feel like it.”

Most recently, Lizzo faced intense backlash over her risqué attire at a Lakers game. She sat courtside wearing a knee-length T-shirt that was cut out in the back to reveal her thong when she got up to do an impromptu twerk session.

Lizzo didn’t say that she would abandon Twitter forever…so maybe there’s hope for her return.

Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
