Louisville Man Shoots Roommate During Fight Over Hot Pocket

Louisville Man Reportedly Shoots Roommate In The Buttocks During Fight Over Last Hot Pocket

A Kentucky man was charged with shooting his roommate “in the a**” after accusing him of allegedly eating their final Hot Pocket, police say.

On Saturday (May 20), local police arrested Clifton Williams on assault charges. The 64-year-old reportedly shot his roommate in the buttocks as he tried to exit their shared space, Louisville Metro Police Department officials told WLKY-TV.

“(I was shot) in the a** while trying to leave,” the unnamed roommate said according to a criminal citation.

Judge Imposes No-Contact Order, Suspect Pleads Not Guilty To Assault Charges

Police say the argument began after Williams started throwing tiles at the unidentified victim upon learning he had eaten the last Hot Pocket.

The alleged victim told police he attempted to fight against Williams before fleeing their Louisville home. He made it “a few blocks away to get help,” per the citation.

A judge has since imposed a no-contact order, and Williams has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Meanwhile, the victim was taken to the nearby University of Louisville Hospital, where medical professionals treated him for minor injuries.

CNN reports that Williams’ bond was $7,500, per court documents and a Jefferson Circuit Court Clerk spokesperson. His next court appearance is reportedly scheduled for Tuesday (May 30).

Hot Pocket Shooting One Of Many Recent Instances Of Fights Escalating To Gun Violence

This Hot Pocket shooting is one of many recent minor incidents leading to gun violence.

In February, a judge sentenced William Carson to 16 years in prison. Carson allegedly shot at a group of kids who threw snowballs at his car, The Shade Room reported.

On January 4, 2020, about seven kids threw snowballs at cars on Milwaukee’s north side. Williams proceeded to turn around after a snowball hit his car. Authorities said he exited the vehicle and sent out a barrage of shots as the kids frantically fled.

Bullets struck two of the seven children–one hit in the arm, one in the thigh. Additionally, a third child’s jacket was grazed by a bullet.

Last month, an 84-year-old man pleaded not guilty to charges of shooting 16-year-old Ralph Yarl.

The Shade Room reported that the shooting occurred on April 13 in Kansas City. Andrew Lester shot Yarl after mistakenly arriving at Lester’s house intending to pick up his siblings.

A Small Arms Survey found more civilian guns than people in the United States, CNN reports.
