Lowndes County Sheriff Confirms Kendrick Johnson's Case Has

Lowndes County Sheriff Confirms Kendrick Johnson’s Case Has Officially Been Reopened (Update)

Roommates, it can seem like the fight for justice can be a long one, but in the end, it’s worth fighting for. Many of you became familiar with the untimely death of South Georgia high school student Kendrick Johnson, who was found dead, head first, rolled up in a gym mat back in 2013. His death, which was ruled an accident, sparked outrage and has been an ongoing conversation on social media for quite a while.

Several people have continued to demand justice for Kendrick. Last June, you couldn’t scroll down your timeline without seeing a post asking you to sign several petitions on Change.org in Kendrick’s honor to have his case reopened. Even celebrities like Kim Kardashian advocated on her platform by sharing the petition, which now has nearly 35,000 signatures. It seems like the petitions may have worked because according to WSBTV, the Lowndes County Sheriff, Ashley Paulk confirmed that he reopened the case after federal investigators gave him documents that he requested in the case from two years ago.

This is huge because Sherriff Paulk was denied access to the files in 2019. Some of the information released were documents and evidence involving the case, which included approximately 17 boxes of documents, including computer towers and computer drives. When informing The Johnson family about the good news, Sherriff Paulk advised he would be interviewing people involved in the case and meeting with other law enforcement agencies to review any pertinent information that was missed or incorrectly reported. However, he didn’t provide a timeline of how long the process would take. The Johnson family has been advocating for the reopening of the case since 2019. They held a press conference on what would have been Kendrick’s 24th birthday demanding justice.

Roomies, we will continue to keep y’all posted as we see what happens next.
