Mariah Carey Reflects On Viral “I Don’t Know Her” Comment, Made About Jennifer Lopez

According to Page Six, Carey appeared on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ with host Andy Cohen on Wednesday, October 1. During the show, Cohen asked Carey if she could believe how renowned her “I don’t know her” comment has become.

In turn, Carey responded by stating, “The thing is, I was being honest when I said it. So I dont know how it became so big. Honesty isnt really something that becomes big most of the time.”

Seemingly, Cohen couldn’t miss the opportunity and followed up by asking Carey:

“To clarify, you still do not know her, right?”

In turn, Carey let a sigh and asked, “How could I suddenly know [her], you know?”

A Look Back On The Singer’s Viral 2003 Comment About Jennifer Lopez

According to Page Six, Mariah Carey shared her now-viral “I don’t know her” comment about Jennifer Lopez while appearing on the German show ‘Taff’ in 2003.

Then, in early 2016, Jennifer Lopez appeared on the ‘Wendy Williams Show,’ explaining that she and Carey had “met many times” and the singer must be “forgetful.”

In May of that year, while also speaking with Cohen, Carey sarcastically affirmed being “forgetful,” noting that she allegedly only met Lopez in passing. Therefore, she can’t speak to truly “knowing” Lopez.

Then, in 2018, Lopez herself appeared on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ and explained that she doesn’t have any hard feelings against Carey. Additionally, she explained that Carey’s apparent feelings toward her can be due to things she’s unaware of. Despite this, Lopez noted that she “would love” to be friends with Carey one day.
