The premiere date for ABC’s new series “Mixed-ish,” is right around the corner. As we previously reported, the show is the latest spinoff of the hit series “Black-ish,” and will focus on the upbringing of Tracee Ellis Ross’ character Rainbow Johnson.
According to Deadline, the one and only Mariah Carey has been tapped to write and perform the theme song for the series, which is premiering in September. The theme song, which is entitled, “In The Mix,” was written and produced by Mariah alongside Daniel Moore.
Mariah expressed her excitement for the track and said, “As a fan of Kenya Barris’ megahit shows, black-ish and grown-ish, I was inspired to connect with Kenya to find a way we could work together. As a biracial woman in the entertainment industry, there was no way I did not want to be a part of mixed-ish, especially after seeing the pilot, which I loved. I could not be more honored and proud to be writing and performing ‘In the Mix’ for Kenya and the show.”
Mariah also took to her social media to express her excitement and said, “Dear Kenya Barris, ABC, and the mixed-ish family this is a dream come true. I’m so thankful this show exists and I couldn’t be more honored to be a part of it.”
As we mentioned before, the show’s synopsis “revolves around young Bow as she recounts her experience growing up in a mixed-race family in the ’80s and the dilemmas they faced over whether to assimilate or stay true to themselves when her parents move from a hippie commune to the suburbs.”
“Mixed-ish is the second spinoff show from ABC’s hit series “Black-ish.” The first spinoff show “Grown-ish,” is currently in its second season.
The new ABC series “Mixed-ish” premieres on September 24th.
