Marvin Sapp is trending after video footage surfaced of him asking the congregation to help him hit a $40,000 goal. The footage sees him challenging churchgoers and online viewers to sow a “small seed” of $20 each. At this time, it’s unclear when the video of Sapp was taken, but it definitely set social media off.

Marvin Sapp Goes Viral For Asking Church Congregation For $40K

The Shade Room shared a video of Marvin Sapp where he tells church ushers to “close the doors” and jokes that everyone at church is just heading to a restaurant after service anyway. Sapp then pointed out that if he could get 1,000 churchgoers and 1,000 online viewers to drop $20 each, he’d hit $40,000.

The preacher didn’t stop there—he asked the choir and clergy to actually drop $100 because “it costs to sit up on stage.” Sapp also told the 1,000 people in the crowd to bring the money to the altar so he could see them come forward. As everyone made their way up, Sapp kept repeating, “Giving is worship.” The singer also called their contributions “an easy miracle,” saying they should be able to raise $40,000 with no problem.

 

Social Media Weighs In

Sapp’s bold demand certainly set the internet on fire, with some folks even flipping the lyrics to his hit song, ‘Never Would’ve Made It,’ saying they “Never would’ve gave it” if they were there. In The Shade Room’s comment section, the Roommates called him out, saying he was just trying to shake people down for the money.
