#Roommates, as the country continues to deal with the devastating impact of the deadly coronavirus outbreak, first responders and healthcare workers have been at the frontlines fighting for our safety. To show some much-needed appreciation, McDonald’s is giving them free meals for the next few weeks.
@USAToday reports, McDonald’s is officially giving away free “Thank You Meals” to all first responders and health care workers currently putting in hard work and increased hours to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Beginning April 22nd through May 5th, all health care workers, police officers, firefighters and paramedics will be able to receive a free meal at participating McDonald’s nationwide from the drive thru or for carry out.
The McDonald’s meals will be available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, served in the popular Happy Meal box. To get the free meal, all health care workers and first responders need to do is show their work badge/ID or be in uniform. However, there is a limit of one per person per day and menu options may vary. For breakfast, choices are an Egg McMuffin, Chicken McGriddles or a Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit, which also come with any size soft drink, tea, hot coffee and a Hash Brown. Lunch and dinner options include, Double Cheeseburger, six-piece Chicken McNuggets, Filet-O-Fish and small fry.
The company said that this is just a small measure “in the hopes of bringing a smile along with delicious food.” Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald’s USA, said the promotion was inspired by local franchises that have started similar programs. The company says they anticipate to give away millions of free meals during the next two weeks.
While McDonald’s closed its dining rooms and play areas on March 16th, just as the virus began to spread rapidly in the U.S., 99% of U.S. locations still remain open for carry out and delivery.
