Megan Thee Stallion Receives A Letter From Congresswoman Maxine Waters, “I’m Incredibly Proud Of You”

These days, Megan Thee Stallion is definitely in charge of the gworlz. From having a #1 single featuring Queen Bey and receiving a few Grammy nominations, to Congresswoman Maxine Waters thanking her for her op-ed in The New York Times, this is truly an unforgettable moment for the Houston Hottie.

In an Instagram post, in part, she wrote, “One of the highlights of my year was getting a letter from Congresswoman @repmaxinewaters. I am so honored to be recognized by such an amazing woman and I promise to keep using my voice and encourage others to use theirs.”

In the letter, Congresswoman Maxine Waters told Megan she was “incredibly proud of her.”

“I can’t thank you enough for bringing much needed attention to the plight of Black women, not just here in the United States – but everywhere,” the Congresswoman  wrote.

Congresswoman Waters also mentioned how Black women are often overlooked while being a crucial fabric of this country.

As you recall, Megan talked about the shooting incident where she alleges Tory Lanez shot her, “While we are too often overlooked, there is no doubt that Black women are a glue for our families and communities,” Waters added. “And a crucial part of the fabric of this country.”

In the piece, she said, “I was recently the victim of an act of violence by a man. After a party, I was shot twice as I walked away from him. We were not in a relationship. Truthfully, I was shocked that I ended up in that place.”

She continued, “My initial silence about what happened was out of fear for myself and my friends. Even as a victim, I have been met with skepticism and judgment. The way people have publicly questioned and debated whether I played a role in my own violent assault proves that my fears about discussing what happened were, unfortunately, warranted.”

Megan continued to speak on violence against women doesn’t always have to be connected to a romantic relationship.

“Instead, it happens because too many men treat all women as objects, which helps them to justify inflicting abuse against us when we choose to exercise our own free will,” said Megan.
