Melyssa Ford Shares 7 Reasons For Being Single
Melyssa Ford has the internet ablaze after sharing a video listing her seven reasons for being single. Ford shared the clip on Instagram on Friday, and she explained why she is still single as she welcomes 50.

“Day 28 of 50 Days to 50,” she wrote. “I’ve been single for a long time. If a relationship didn’t last a year, it doesn’t really count to me. I’m super comfy being single, my life is full and very meaningful but I do get asked about it a lot. So I came up with a few reasons that explain why choosing to be single seems safer than being out there in the dumpster fire that is these dating Skreets… Let me know in the comments if this resonates with you and/or what your reasons are for staying single! #50daysto50 #fyp #aginggracefully #day28of50.”
Ford listed her reasons in the clip, and she asked fans if they could relate.
“I think I narrowed down seven reasons why I’m single,” she said. “So, let me know if you see yourself in any of these reasons.”
Ford explained that number one was chemistry. “The hot and cold behavior that I once found super exciting is like a f*cking circus of red flags.”
For number two, Ford listed small talk with someone who lacks depth. “I’d rather stand in front of a firing squad.”
“Three, I run the math on every connection,” she continued. “Before I let anybody close, I ask, is this person worth the risk of the peace that I rebuilt?’ And most of the time, the answer is the math is not mathing, so no.”
Ford listed number four as “threat detection.”
“So, after my last heartbreak, every new date feels like risk assessment, and I watch for warning signs instead of feeling butterflies,” she said. “Okay, these butterflies can kiss my motherf*cking a*s.”
For number five, Ford said, “I’m not downgrading. I would rather spend the evening alone with my puppies than settle for a mind that does not match mine. I’m a sapiosexual. I already know what the wrong love costs.”
Number six is Ford’s independence. “My independence has become the safest relationship that I have, and so being alone is nothing that I escape. I actually kind of crave it. So if you can break through that, you are something.”
Number seven is listed as safety.
“How safe I feel, how someone handles a hard conversation, and whether what they do matches what they say,” said Ford. “This is not bitterness because I know you motherf*ckers will be in the comments saying that sh*t. It’s more about a lack of desire to negotiate my peace. So, I’m wondering, do any of these resonate with you? And if there’s something that I miss that is the reason you’re staying single, please, by all means, put it in the comments.”

Ford Defended Jasmine Guy In Viral Clip
As reported by The Shade Room, Ford went viral for defending Jasmine Guy following the reboot of ‘A Different World’ premiere. Guy is 64, and after her appearance was critiqued, Ford jumped to her defense with a video on Instagram. The post is captioned:
“So the internet gangsters have picked a fight with the Icon @iamjasmineguy because she had the audacity to age,” she wrote. “Mmmm k. Some of you don’t deserve the privilege of getting older. Edit: And just to be clear, I’m aware that quite a few disparaging comments came from women. They should be ASHAMED of themselves. That’s some gender traitor sh*t right there. Fix your internalized misogyny, ladies. It ain’t cute.”
In the clip, Ford’s words were even more to the point.
“You internet gangsters get on my f*cking nerves,” she said. “Jasmine Guy is the latest woman being picked apart for her age, and it’s the same bullsh*t every f*cking time. If a woman gets work done, she lacks self-love. She’s insecure, she’s chasing youth. If she doesn’t, she’s letting herself go, or she gets praised for letting her face do what faces do. Brave, for aging!”
