Mo’Nique Shares Another Message About Bonnets: ‘I’m Unapologetic In What I Said Because I Said It With Nothing But Love’ (Video)

Roommates, the conversation about bonnets doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Mo’Nique has shared another message and addressed the women who took offense to her previous comments. If you recall, last Friday, she released a video on Instagram explaining her issue with women after she saw them wearing bonnets in the airport.

She said with love, “So when we got to the airport yesterday, I was like ‘okay baby, let’s go get them in Jackson, M,’ and as we began to walk through the airport, I saw so many, actually too many to count, and too many for me to tap. But I saw so many of our young sisters in head bonnets, scarves, slippers, pajamas, blankets wrapped around them, and this is how they’re showing up to the airport.”

Today Mo’Nique cleared the air to the women who didn’t like what she said. Before apologizing, she shared a transparent moment and recalled a time where she was told about herself by legends Patti LaBelle and Margaret Avery. Patti didn’t sugarcoat anything and told her the real. Mo’Nique explained, “Had I taken a different attitude, I could have felt like they were rubbing me wrong. But I’m glad I took the attitude of appreciation and gratitude because they tapped me.”

The time came for her to speak directly to the women who felt a way. “For you babies that have taken offense to what I said, I’m okay with that. I’m okay with y’all being in your feelings about it,” stated Mo’Nique.

The ‘Queen of Comedy’ continued saying once again that she made the comments with nothing but love and no judgement. She then ended the nearly 5-minute long video saying, “For the sistas that got it, I’m glad. For the ones that didn’t, I’ll wait.”

Roomies, what y’all think about this?
