Mo’Nique came through with the fire, laying it all bare on the ‘Outlaws’ podcast on Tuesday, August 19. She’s been vocal for years about her beef with Perry and Winfrey. But this time, she doubled down, accusing them of derailing her career for over a decade.
“One of the biggest entertainers in the world is Tyler Perry, and Tyler Perry told a lie on me, and that lie cost me 12 years of my career,” she told TS Madison.

Mo’Nique claims Perry spread rumors that she was “difficult” to work with, causing her to lose millions in earnings. This, according to the actress, also tanked her opportunities to land work in Hollywood. And she’s not letting it slide.
“Until he fixes it, I will not stop,” she declared, comparing the silence around her situation to how Harvey Weinstein’s misconduct was ignored for years. Auntie says she’s not afraid to call out the “God complex” she believes Perry and Winfrey have, and she’s ready to keep speaking her truth until they take accountability.

Mo’Nique Explains How Things Can Be Rectified
When TS Madison asked what “fixing it” looks like, Mo’Nique was quick to respond. She pointed to Daniels, who publicly apologized to her on stage in 2022 for his role in the feud following the release of ‘Precious.’
“You see what Lee Daniels did? That man walked on that stage publicly. See, you publicly shamed me, so now you have to publicly fix it,” she said.
Mo’Nique claims the damage from Perry and Winfrey’s actions cost her family “millions and millions and millions of dollars.” She’s demanding a public apology to set things right once and for all. The universe, she says, is watching, and from her own beliefs, she claims she’s not the only one who’s been wronged.
What Sparked The Feud?
So, how did this all start? Roomies, as most of you know, the feud dates back to 2009 with the film ‘Precious,’ where Mo’Nique won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Perry and Winfrey, executive producers alongside Lee Daniels, allegedly urged Mo’Nique to promote the film at Cannes without extra pay. Mo’Nique, who chose to prioritize family time and noted it wasn’t in her contract, refused.
She claims this led to her being labeled “difficult,” a rumor she says Perry started, effectively blackballing her from Hollywood. Adding fuel to the fire, Mo’Nique accused Winfrey of betrayal when her estranged family, including her brother, who allegedly molested her as a child, appeared on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ in 2010. Mo’Nique says she was completely blindsided by the move. Additionally, she expressed how the actions not only hurt her career but deeply impacted her family. Now, even after all these years have passed, she’s still waiting for Perry and Winfrey to own up to their roles in the fallout.
It’s worth noting that Winfrey has never publicly addressed Mo’Nique’s issues. Perry, too, has never publicly shed light on the things he’s been accused of by the Maryland native.
