Kevin Samuels’ name remains a trending topic on social media as confirmation of his passing spreads. The story first broke when the blog Gossip In The City shared what seemed like dispatch call notes in an exclusive report.
Shortly afterward, conversations about the popular, more often controversial and even offensive, internet personality began to trend. It turns out that Kevin’s mother caught wind of those conversations. She told NBC that she first learned of her son’s death on social media.
“That was a terrible thing for social media to put that out. I didn’t even know. I hadn’t even been notified,” Beverly Samuels-Burch said in a phone call on Friday. “All I’m doing is requesting that people pray for us.”
While Beverly confirmed the news that Kevin died, she did not provide any context on what was the cause.
Atlanta Police Department Releases Incident Report On Kevin Samuels
Before his mother’s word, associates such as Marc Lamont Hill spoke on the news of Kevin’s death on Thursday evening. He wrote, “So I’ve now gotten confirmation from multiple sources that Kevin Samuels has passed away.”

Multiple outlets reported his passing late into Thursday night and early Friday morning, but no official word was given. The Atlanta Police Department released the incident report on Friday at 9:13 a.m. local time. The official report did not mention Kevin’s passing but provided an account of who called 911 and why.
A woman named Ms. Ortencia Alcantara identified Kevin to the responding officials. Ortencia told officers she met Kevin on the night of May 4, “came to his apartment, and spent the night with him.” Early the following day, Ortencia said Kevin complained of “chest pain,” but he “fell on top of her” when she tried to help. At that point, she contacted 911.
The incident report states, “Ms. Alcantara also said she requested the 911 operator to contact the front desk for a defibrillator to keep Mr. Samuels responsive until Grady arrived because she is a nurse. Grady bus #741 Mr. Samuels was later transported to Piedmont Hospital by Grady bus #741.”
Social Media Reacts To Kevin Samuel’s Passing
The woman has not spoken publicly about what occurred nor is there reason to suspect foul play at this time. However, people are continuing to tote both sides of the fence in conversations about Kevin and his image consultant and relationship coach roles.
He was primarily known for his viral videos where he rated women and men, particularly Black women, on their self-image and relationship standards. Just last month, he received heavy backlash for his commentary on unmarried women over 35 years of age.
“If you have made it to 35 and you are unmarried, you are a leftover woman,” Kevin said in the video. “You are what is left. Men know that there is something likely wrong with you.“
