He’s Out! Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade Resigns From Trump’s Georgia Election Interference Case

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee’s ruling was made after hearing testimony from Wade, Willis, and others in connection with the legal officials and the Trump case.

Wade resigned hours after McAfee’s judgment. The prosecutor’s resignation will allow Willis to continue to fight the four criminal cases against the likely GOP nominee for the 2024 presidential election.

Nathan Wade’s Resignation Letter

Wade submitted his resignation letter to Willis, stating he made the decision “in the interest of democracy, in dedication to the American public and to move this case forward as quickly as possible.”

“I am sure that the case, and the team, will be in good hands moving forward and justice will be served.”

Fani Willis’ Response

The District Attorney responded with a letter acknowledging the challenges Wade has faced. Willis addressed the threats against him and his family in addition to the “unjustified attacks” from the media. Furthermore, she praised his “professionalism and dignity,” per Washington Post.

Furthermore, Willis wrote, “I will always remember — and will remind everyone — that you were brave enough to step forward and take on the investigation and prosecution of the allegations that defendants in this case engaged in a conspiracy to overturn Georgia’s 2020 Presidential Election.”

Trump & His Attorney Weigh In On Wade’s Resignation

However, Donald Trump wasn’t here for Fani taking a shot at him in her statement. He sent the legal officials a message on social media.

The former president subsequently took to Truth Social on Friday and stated that Wade “just resigned in disgrace”, per NBC News.

Additionally, the billionaire’s attorney, Steve Sadow, stated that he respected the court’s decision but claimed he “did not afford appropriate significance to the prosecutorial misconduct of Willis and Wade.”

We will use all legal options available as we continue to fight to end this case, which should never have been brought in the first place.”

Judge McAfee failed to find Wade’s relationship with Willis was a conflict of interest. However, he did note the allegations made an “appearance of impropriety” that has adversely impacted the prosecution. Trump’s defense could attempt to appeal the ruling if the judge grants him permission.

Trump faces a 41-count indictment. Additionally, 18 others face the same charges. It outlines an alleged plot he had to undermine Peach State voters. It claims he attempted to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
