More Reported Details About Nelly & Ashanti’s Alleged Marriage
On Wednesday, June 19, TMZ published an exclusive report about the singer and rapper’s romance. The outlet asserts that the pair are married and “have been for months.”
Court records obtained by the outlet reportedly assert that Nelly and Ashanti’s marriage was recorded on December 27, 2023.
The outlet reports that the records did not specify the city where the musicians’s marriage became official. However, TMZ reports that their union is recorded in St. Louis County.
To note, the outlet’s report does not explicitly include the state where the marriage was recorded. However, it notes that “all signs point to them doing the deed in Nelly’s hometown.” Universal Music Enterprises notes that Nelly originates from St. Louis, Missouri. Meanwhile, Blackpast reports that Nelly was born in Austin, Texas.
TMZ adds that Nelly and Ashanti’s representatives have been contacted for comment. However, they have yet to respond. The outlet adds that the musicians could be planning a public ceremony.

As The Shade Room previously reported, Ashanti recently sat down with Entertainment Tonight in an interview published on Tuesday, June 18. During the conversation, the singer did not specify when Nelly proposed. However, she dished on the “intimate” moment, which occurred while they were watching TV in bed.
“It was just such a beautiful, intimate moment,” she said. “We were not dressy… It was very, like, I had absolutely no idea… I gave him the biggest hug and kiss ever. I FaceTimed everyone I know… I was overjoyed and shocked and surprised and happy kind of like all in one.”
During the conversation, Ashanti confirmed that she will be giving birth before her and Nelly’s wedding ceremony. She even specified that she wants to have a beachfront wedding adorned with “sunshine and palm trees.”
Furthermore, in a separate portion of her interview with the outlet, the expecting mother explained that she and Nelly are aware of the gender of their first child together. However, they won’t be sharing it with the world.
